All About KLAHS
Kairos Luminary Academy High School (KLAHS) serves scholars from Solano County and the adjacent surrounding counties. Our scholars use the flexibility of independent study to explore a personalized path that best meets their needs. Scholars may take coursework through independent study, teacher-guided classes, online learning platforms, as well as college coursework through local universities and community colleges.
KLAHS is one of four academies operated by Kairos Public Schools (KPS). Kairos Public Schools is accredited through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
Academic Programs
KLAHS offers two academic programs that allow staff to serve the specific needs of our scholars. Both programs offer options for scholars to personalize their experience.
Independent Study Program
Our Independent Study program offers an option for scholars who are looking for a more traditional independent study program.
-
Scholars complete most work independently at home
-
Scholars meet regularly with teacher to turn in completed work
-
Scholars may choose paper and pencil-based courses or online courses
-
Scholars can take up to one teacher guided class at the center
-
Scholars can take classes through Solano Community College Concurrent Enrollment.
Hybrid Program
Our Hybrid program combines some traditional classroom elements with some of the flexibility that independent study offers. Scholars can take classes at the resource center that are teacher-driven courses. These class schedules are similar to a college schedule where scholars attend in-person a few days a week and work from home the other days.
-
Scholars take three or more teacher-led classes at the Resource Center
-
Scholars are enrolled in a homeroom advisory class
-
Scholars will still take some courses solely through independent study
-
Scholars can take classes through Solano College Concurrent Enrollment
About our Resource Center
At KLAHS, we believe that learning can happen in many different places, not just in a school building. However, we do have a brand new resource center that offers a variety of classes and support to our high school scholars. Some of these options include:
-
Teacher-led classes that meet weekly on a schedule similar to a college. Most classes have 16-20 students.
-
Weekly advisory period for Hybrid Program scholars to receive important information and connect with their Personalized Learning Teacher.
-
Meetings and classes for scholars with Individualized Educational Plans (IEP)
-
Scholar Support Lab for scholars referred for additional support time
-
Teacher offices and classrooms for the regular parent, scholar, and teacher meetings to discuss scholar progress.
